Periodic Table 8th Grade Class Project

Students will create a special element-key display for an assigned element. The created element key will be created on 1/2 sheet of construction paper. The information on the element key will include the following: element symbol (centered on paper), element name(at top, centered), atomic number (below element name), atomic mass number (at bottom, centered), electron shells populated with the appropriate numbers of electrons (around and/or on top of the element symbol), the numbers of electrons in each orbital shell listed horizontally (in the top, right of the paper). Electrons should be symbolized with black dots. Valence electrons will be symbolized with spheres glued onto the proper places.

Metals should be displayed upon blue construction paper.

Nonmetals should be displayed upon green construction paper

Metalloids should be display upon light blue construction paper.

Sign up for the element you want to make on the following link. Put your number, name, and name of your element in the cell underneath the atomic number of the element you want.
