Topographic Map of Clay (or play-dough) Hill Lab Activity

• Roll the clay into a ball about the size of your fist.
• Flatten the ball to a consistent width like a pancake.
• Separate the ball into different pieces of unequal dimensions.
• Stack the dimensions on top of each other to simulate various altitudes of a hill.
• Take measurements of your hill.
• Draw a topographic map of your hill. Communicate the scale of your diagram.
• Graph your hill in profile view.
